ION Video resets strategy, cuts liabilities and pushes towards AI commercialisation

Ion Video Ltd outlined a major strategic reset in its half-year CEO report, repositioning itself as infrastructure that makes video programmable for AI. Over the past seven months, the company rebranded from Linius and shifted from bespoke software projects to a pure IP and licensing model built on its video virtualisation patents. It has also rebuilt its teams and is now targeting hyperscalers, AI platforms, and chipmakers rather than end users.

A New Infrastructure Layer for AI

ION Video unveiled a programmable video layer - the world’s first prompt-to-virtual-video interface - enabling AI to assemble video dynamically. Although video makes up over 80% of global internet traffic, it remains a “sealed artifact” that AI can label but not restructure or recompose without costly re-editing and re-rendering. As AI evolves from answering prompts to composing experiences, video has become the key bottleneck.
